
Keeping Your Bathroom Warm Without Blinding Everyone
Nobody likes that shivering feeling when you step out of a hot shower into a freezing bathroom. But there’s a real problem with a lot of Infrared heaters: they can be blinding. Especially if you’ve got a baby in the tub, that harsh, bright white glare is just too much. We figured out a way to fix that. The trick is in the light. Most basic infrared lamps blast out a bright light that hurts your eyes. To stop that, we use special coatings on the quartz glass. It basically acts like a filter. It blocks out the blinding visible light and pushes the energy into the thermal range instead. You still feel that immediate, cozy heat on your skin, but you aren’t squinting the whole time. It’s much gentler. Let’s talk gear. Our units usually run on your standard home power (220V-240V), with lamps between 250W and 600W. We use high-purity quartz tubes because they can handle being turned on and off quickly without burning out. One quick tip: the heat is strongest right in the center of the tube. Because of that, you’ve got to make sure your fixture housing is actually built for high heat. You don’t want your plastic casing warping because it got too hot. A few things to keep in mind. These lamps are pretty easy to swap out since they use standard connectors. Now, here’s the trade-off: because we added that eye-protection coating, you lose a tiny bit of heat efficiency compared to a clear tube. It’s a small price to pay for not blinding your family. Just double-check your wiring if you’re running a few of these at once. And be careful not to overdo the wattage in a tiny bathroom. If you put too much power in a small space, you’ll just overheat the air, and that completely misses the point of radiant heating.
